Often viewed as one of the most resounding victories in the annals of military history, the Battle of Chancellorsville was truly one of General Lee's greatest achievements. Yet in the ashes of the Wilderness of Virginia lay more than 13,000 of Lee's men, a wrecked chain-of-command, and a seemingly lost opportunity to finish off the Army of the Potomac once and for all.
Was the Battle of Chancellorsville Lee's greatest victory or was it the beginning of the end for the Army of Northern Virginia? Kris White will explore this topic in his presentation entitled: "Lee's Greatest Victory/Lee's Greatest Defeat: The Battle of Chancellorsville."
About the Speaker:
Kristopher D. White is the education manager at the American Battlefield Trust (https://www.battlefields.org). He is a graduate of Norwich University with an M.A. in Military History as well as a graduate of California University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in History.
Kris has served as a staff military historian at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park for the past 5 years. He has also served as a historian for the Penn-Trafford Recreation Board and as a continuing education instructor for the Community College of Allegheny County near Pittsburgh.

An award-winning speaker and editor, Kris has spoken to more than 60 round tables and historical societies and authored, co-authored, or edited nearly two-dozen books. Kris is also the author and a co-author of numerous articles that have appeared in various publications, including: America’s Civil War; Blue & Gray Magazine; Hallowed Ground Magazine; and Civil War Times.
