Civil War Round Table of the District of Columbia
Via Zoom
on May 11, 2021

About the Topic:

Early in 2020, Gene Schmiel began work on a series of books entitled, Civil War Personalities, 50 at a Time.  Each of the seven books written so far highlights 50 people via short essays noting their impact on the Civil War era.  Using period photographs and other information from the era, such as political cartoons, the books bring to life these interesting personalities.  Each essay also includes a reading list for further information.

Mr. Schmiel's presentation, "Civil War Trailblazers, Troublemakers, and Many More," will discuss relevant characters from his books, listed below:

1. Civil War Trailblazers and Troublemakers;
2. Civil War Rogues, Rascals, and Rapscallions;
3. Civil War Political Generals in Blue and Grey;
4. Civil War Women: Underestimated and Indispensable;
5. Civil War Unsung Heroes and Others "Behind the Scenes;"
6. The Civil War in Statuary Hall;
7. Civil War Ohioans; and
8.     Civil War Virginians

His books are available via https://www.amazon.com/-/e/B00HV4SSWK or by writing him at geneofva@gmail.com for autographed copies.
